a halo is a planet-sized artificial world, shaped like a ring. The interior surface contains a breathable atmosphere and seemingly natural terrain, including oceans, lakes, mountains, forests, and tundras.
it was made to wipe out all of existence by destroying the nerve system in all life. this was due to the outbreak of a parasite called the flood. the flood was a very smart parasite that was able to absorb the minds of all the beings it had consumed and killed. the knowledge is transferred to all the flood from a gravemind. it was able to use guns and space ships. it was like a zobmie. took control of the body it killed.
this is made from all the dead matter that the flood killed. created from an ancient species of alien called the precursors. they could transform into anything at while and was a very powerful and smart being. t.he forerunners, the alien species that made the halo rings, started a war with the precursors almost killing them off. the precursors transformed into small dust that would eventually corrupt. for some reason, the forerunners found the dust years after the war and fed it to some dog-like creatures. after a while it transformed the dogs into cannibalistic dogs that went onto humans. which is what created the flood parasite.
the rings were created to kill the flood because they got out of hand. the forerunners got the DNA of all life and shot the ring, destroying all life. after the array was shot, all life was restored because of the DNA.
sadly the forerunners created safe worlds before they made the rings. the safe worlds were worlds that had a shell of metal covering them and protecting them. sadly it didn't work and the flood got in and the flood that stayed in the safe world was not destroyed from the blast, allowing them to live on.
so that is the history of the halo rings
