ok -- apparently trig is not in your toolkit.
So, do you know that the sides of a 30-60-90 triangle are in the ratios
1:√3:2 ?
If so, draw your diagram, and you will see that you want the hypotenuse of a 30-60-90 triangle whose longer leg is 12 ft. The above ratios tell you that the hypotenuse is 2/√3 times as long as the longer leg, so your conveyor belt has length
12 * 2/√3 = 13.86
or, 14 ft.
If that makes no sense, then you must have learned some other factoids about righ triangles. Use them.

I'm working on it; just wasn't thinking.

no name
or the sine trig ratio is sin of angle = opposite/hypotenuse, so in solving for the hypotenuse you have the opposite of angle 60 (12) and the hypotenuse you are solving for is x so sin 60 degrees= 12/x = 12sin60=x

Here is the Trigonometry Quiz Part 1
1) Wayne used this diagram to compute the distance from Ferris, to Dunlap...
25 mi.
2) A triangle has side lengths of 18cm, 80 cm, and 81 cm. Classify it as acute, obtuse, or right.
Acute
3) The area of a square garden is 200 m^2. How long is the diagonal?
20 m
4) A conveyor belt... (I'm not going to type this all down)
14 ft
5) Find the missing value to the nearest hundredth.
tan ___ = 73
89.22
6) Write the ratio for sin A and cos A. The triangle is not drawn to scale.
sin A = 48/50, cos A = 14/50

Everyone please ignore Steve at the beginning.. from using jiskha it’s helped me see that I am not the only connexus student struggling HEAVILY. So do not take Steve’s or anyone else’s words on here seriously. They have not been in our shoes, and if they had nothing nice to say they shouldn’t have come on here in the first place. Connexus is HARD. No matter what anyone else says. I’ve gone to multiple other schools and excelled, but I am failing this one.
