Why did Marx call communism "the end of history"?

2 answers

It's a confusing statement because "history," the written record of human experience, won't end until the human race ends. But Marx thought that communism would end the era of history or the world as we knew it up until his proposed changes could be effected. A new history would begin.
Marx believed that Communism was a utopia and that signified the end of struggles and thus the end of history.
