Find the derivative of 1/(1+(x-3)^2)

Steps would be appreciated.

1 answer

if you let u = 1 + (x-3)^2 then

y = 1/u

The chain rule says that

y' = -1/u^2 u'
= -1/(1+(x-3)^2)^2 * (2(x-3))
