Double the number of cells with 12 chromosomes.

Double the number of cells with 6 chromosomes.

I'm not sure I understand really.

With mitosis, the number of chromsomes double before the cell splits, leavind the daughter cells with the same species number of chromosomes (diploid).

This duplication does not occur with meiosis, so the daughter cells have only half the original chromosomes (haploid).

I hope that helps.
