Suggest another solvent you might use instead of ether. Explain your choice giving the advantages and disadvantages of your choice.

Separation of Unknown Compounds ( this is a lab question. we used ether in this experiment)

That doesn't help much. Is this an extraction? Do you know anything about the unknown? Is it an acid? base? ester? anything else other than it's an unknown? Is this a qual experiment. A quant experiment?

We had acid base and solid mixture in this experiment. other than these we aren't given anything else. Yes it was an extraction.
