Car A is heading north with a velocity of 14 m/s. Car B is traveling south with a velocity of 19 m/s. What is the relative motion between the two cars?
A. 5 m/s
B. 14 m/s
C. 19 m/s
D. 33 m/s

would this be A, since 19-14 = 5?

Taking the difference is the right approach. However, they are heading in different directions, so the velocities have different signs.
Hope that helps.
