I know that Hammurabi developed the concepts of law codes in Mesopotamia, but I still don't know the answer to the rest of the question.

I have read this section of my textbook at least twelve times; I don't know the answer to #2.

1. Hammurabi developed the concepts of law codes in Mesopotamia, while the pharaoh was the head of the legal system which was based on a common-sense view of right and wrong that emphasized reaching agreements and resolving conflicts rather than strictly adhering to a complicated set of statutes. Both Mesoptamia and Egyptain city-states, however, developed divine kingship through superstition.

2. Charlemagne influenced European civilization as he did away with the monetary system based on the gold sou. He then set up a new standard known as the livre.
