If a pitcher throws a ball to homeplate at a speed of 57 miles per hour for the distance of 47 feet how long does it take to cross homeplate? I multiplied distance x speed and got 2679 but not sure what that means???

Your answer is meaningless. The problem states the speed as miles per hour. The question asks about how long it will take to go 47 feet.

1 mile = 5,280 feet

57 * 5,280 = 300,960 feet

47 / 300,960 = 0.000156 hour
