This question never got answered and I would appreciate it if someone could take a look at it.
Simplify
12(6^/(5^-4^) + 7
My thoughts
12(36/(5^-4^) + 7
12(36/9) + 7
12 (4) + 7
12 * 11
132

Your notation is weird.
5^-4 = 1/5^4 = 1/625
No idea what 5^-4^ means, or 6^/...

^ means squared and is the way we have been taught to show it.
So the 1st part of your question reads
5 squared - 4 squared
2nd part is
6 squared divided by
Thank you

Hiya,
i read through this and 132 isn't the answer. you need to do B.I.D.M.A.S
so...
simplify
12(6^/ (5^-4^))+7
12(6^/ (25-16))+7
12(6^/ (9))+7
12(36/ (9))+7
12(36/9)+7
12(4)+7
(12 x 4)+7
(48)+7
48+7=55
ANSWER=55

Normally, the ^ needs an exponent after it. So, I read it now as
12(6^2/(5^2-4^2)) + 7
12(36/(25-16))+7
12(36/9)+7
12(4)+7
48+7
55
You were ok until the last step. Unless otherwise indicated, multiplication is done before addition.
Ah. I see what went wrong; your unbalanced parentheses made me guess wrong. You evidently meant
12(6^2/(5^2-4^2) + 7)
In that case, your answer is correct.
But your penultimate line
12(4) + 7
clearly means 12*4 + 7 = 48+7
Your answer requires 12(4+7)
12(6^2/(5^2-4^2)) + 7
12(36/(25-16))+7
12(36/9)+7
12(4)+7
48+7
55

actually you have placed the brackets in wrong.
12(4)+7
BECOMES: 12*4+7
You said that you place the brackets like this: 12* (4+7)
However,
B.I.D.M.A.S: (Multiply comes before add)
so.. the brackets actually go like this: (12*4)+7
giving you 55
(if you don't belive me go get a scientific calculator and type it in.)
