32 gal/min * (60 min/ hr) * (4 qt/gal)
= 7680 qt/hr
notice that I multiply by things that are the same top and bottom but different units
60 min = 1 hr
4 qt = 1 gal
I do the numerator and denominator to make the units I want to get rid of cancel and leave the new ones that I want.
for example 5 feet, I want inches
5 ft * (12 in / 1 ft)
ft cancels
left with 60 inches
= 7680 qt/hr
