divide by -2, when you multiply or divide by a negative, change direction of arrow

- 1/2 < y

so
y > -1/2

now check that by picking some y which is greater than (to the right of on number line) -1/2
like maybe -1/4
8 - 3 > 4 - 2(-1/4) ????
5 > 4 + 1/2 yes
