I'm doing a paper in which I have to write about 4 texts and their connection to a theme. I already have 2 and am looking for 2 more texts. My theme is "How one can never lose his roots, no matter how much influence society has on him", or something similar. Would you know any texts that have that theme?

Which two texts do you already have?

They're actually visual texts. One is the TV series Marvel's Agents Of Shield and the other one is the movie Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Our teacher said to have a mixture of both written and visual but I can't think of any that would include that theme.

"Texts"? the two you mentioned are totally fiction...You are writing about a sociology theme based on fiction? You might as well add Orwell's Animal Farm, and then Superman (roots on the other planet).
, or maybe Thoreau's Walden. (roots on the other planet).
So I wonder what type of "paper" you are doing. I suspect your teacher is looking for a research paper based on scholarly research or texts, not fiction.
My recommendation is you run this by your teacher: what is the purpose of the paper?
, or maybe Thoreau's Walden. (roots on the other planet).

I didn't even think that theme was a sociological one (I'm still only in high school), that theme is just something I thought up of. And yes, my teacher said we are allowed to do fictional texts. In fact, any text at a high enough reading level is appropriate. I don't even think the term 'paper' is correct, I just used it because it's what everybody's using in the US. I live in NZ and we have a completely different curriculum sorry.

Thanks for clarifying your assignment. Think about the short stories and other literature you've read that would fit with your theme.

thanks. I think I have it. Go ahead with short stories, or essays. Thoreau's Walden is a classic.
