wouldn't each plant and animal have different reproductive/living pressures in different areas because of climate, shelter, food, day length, etc?
species adapt to local conditions, not world wide. It is hard to find lizzards in Antartica, and hard to find penguins in Utah.

Anonymous, maybe I can help you with this question..:) I took this test already and I'm in Connexus, so here's what I put. ( I got full credit)
So:
How does adaptation explain the patterns of distribution of plant and animal species in the world?
Well, animals adapt to certain habitats. For example, a polar bear wears a white wool coat to thrive the harsh winter in the freezing arctic, and to also blend in with the snow. As for plants, they can adapt to certain habitats as well. A cactus can adapt to the hot dry desert and stores the little water the desert gets per year.
Adaptation is distributed between animals and plants fro survival. If an animal or plant does not adapt, they will not survive.
Hope this helped:-)
