Question
What is the difference between savoir and connaitre?
Answers
Thank you for using the Jiskha Homework Help Forum.
savoir = to know, to be able (mentally), to know how (something you must learn first or reason about)
connaƮtre = to know, to be acquainted with (something you glean th rough the senses, or by perception)
Here are 2 sentences to compare:
Je sais ce livre = I know that book. That means from cover to cover, inside-out
Je connais ce livre = I know that book. That means I am acquianted with that book. I might recognize the cover.
When you have some sentences to compare it will make this so much easier.
