Develop hypotheses predicting the effect of pyrite and coal on the acidity of water?

You might hypothesize that pyrite (FeS2) burns with coal to produce SO2 as one of the products. SO2 then might dissolve n lakes and streams to produce H2SO3 and that would increase the acidity of the H2O. I would add the equations and balance them.
