at x = 3
y = 3*3 - 9 = 0
at x = 2.4
y = 3(2.4) - 2.4^2 = 1.44
delta y = 1.44 -0 = 1.44

dy/dx = 3 - 2 x
at x = 3
dy/dx = 3 - 6 = -3
if dx = -.6
dy = -3 (-.6) = 1.8
