The area of a rectangular garden is given by the trinomial x2 + 6x – 27. What are the possible dimensions of the rectangle? Use factoring.

x^2 + 6x - 27
= (x+9)(x-3)

So possible sides are x+9 and x-3

however, that would not be the only possibility.
e.g. suppose one side is x-2
then the other side is (x^2 + 6x - 27)/(x-2)
or ( x+8 - 11/(x-2) )
or with actual values

suppose the area is 27 and one side is 3
then we can say that the other side is 9, and the pair of 3,9 is the only whole number combination
but suppose one side is 5
wouldn't the other side be 27/5 or 5.4 ?
so there would be an infinite number of 2 factors that give a product of 27
in the same way there would be an infinite number of 2 binomials that give a product of
x^2 + 6x - 27
