2x^2 -24 x + 40 = 0
x^2 - 12 x + 20 = 0
(x-2)(x-10) = 0
x = 2
or
x = 10

3 x^2 + 9 x - 12 = 0

x^2 + 3 x - 4 = 0

(x+4)(x-1) = 0
x = 1
or
x = -4
