1. What is the half-life of Strontium-90? Explain your answer.

Honestly I don't know how to get this answer. I've looked it up and stuff, but I just found the answer not how to know what it is. A link or explanation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The half life of strontium-90 is 28.8 years. Strontium-90 has 52 neutrons and 38 protons.

I don't know much about this but I hope this helps, there aren't many helpers online right now cause its really late so I hope this helps

And try going on strontium 90 Wikipedia it has more info

is a radioactive isotope of strontium produced by nuclear fission, with a half-life of 28.8 years. It undergoes β− decay into yttrium-90, with a decay energy of 0.546 MeV. here

@Your Friend, wikipedia may be edited but for ANYONE to edit it, it must be approved by the majority. Therefore, it still holds facts, and it still a place to go for research.

The 1/2 life of Strontium 90 is 28.8 years. The Radioactive Decay in the Strontium is so active it can turn into Nuclear Fusion. Strontium 90 Has 50 Neutrons and 38 Protons. That is the reason why it has 28 years in half life.

DO NOT USE @cellis 's ANSWER! YOU WILL BE CAUGHT CHEATING.

My friend used a form of that answer, and a webmail was sent out saying that you will get a 0 on the test if you use it.

The half-life of strontium-90 is about 28 years. Go down half way from 100% to 50% draw a line across from 50 to the line on the graph. Then draw a line down to the years. Your line going down to the years will hit at 28 years.

In my school, if we use Wikipedia, we automatically fail. My mom did an experiment to show me how unreliable it is. She changed the definition of shoe to mean a kind of sandwich eaten by southerners served with coleslaw and milk. It stayed that way for 30 days before it was fixed! Most schools don't allow use of Wikipedia because it's not reliable and it's work is often uncheckable. I came here because I don't understand this question and was hoping to get clarity by someone explaining the question and how to solve it-not read a cat fight about Wikipedia.

okay i wanted to help explain this to people i am on the test right now so what it wants is help of the life of the strontium-90 and according to the chart the full life is 112 so just divide that by two to get half of the life of the strontium-90 it is simple really but they just made it confusing.

Strontium-90 has a half- life of 29 years and emits beta particles of relatively low energy as it decays. Yttrium-90, its decay product, has a shorter half-life (64 hours) than strontium-90, but it emits beta particles of higher energy.
