first multiply by 10^-2 to get meters instead of centimeters so
3 * 10^8 m/s * 1 km/10^3m * 3600 s/hr
= 10800 * 10^5 = 1.08 * 10^9 km/hr
or type
3*10^8 m/s = km/hr
