how to solve linear functions

f(x)= 2x if x greater than or equal to -1
x-1 if x less than -1

There is no solution involved here, that is just two straight lines that at (-1,-2)

They share the point (-1,-2)
the first one goes right from there with slope 2 and the second one goes left from there at slope 1
