x: m or the length Y: m+2 or the width i'm assuming this is a rectangle perimeter=2x+2y perimeter=2(m)+2(m+2) therefore 2m+2m+2 perimeter=4m+2 as for area.. area=xy area=m(m+2) area=m^2+2m
let x be the length let y be the width y=1/2x 2x+2y=54 substitute-> 2x+2(1/2x)=54 2x+x=54 3x=54 x=18 since the width is half the length 18/2= 9 y=9
