Thank you Dr. Russ. I am so thrilled with your answer. It is the first time I have had an answer that I can truly understand and comprehend, being a math-challenged individual. Thank you sooo much for your careful and complete explanation!
Thank you, Dr. Reiny!
Thank you for clarifying. You are dealing with a dense old lady this morning.
There is something wrong either with the problem or with the answer. The answer must be only one number. It cannot be 4 miles per second AND 6 miles per second. Explain, please.
thank you, Mr. Reiny.
But if one dice has a 6 face up and the other dice has a 1 face up, isn't that a product of 7?
Thank you!
I finally understand! Thanks for your explanation to this dense logic.
The question does not say that each person would have a different birthday month. I could invite 12 people to a party and there might be only 7 months represented for birthday months. Should I assume the question is limited by assuming each person to have
Thank you Dr. Reiny.
I am confused. You said in your first statement that his rate is 9 cubic feet/hour. But you also state that he can dig 8 cubic feet in 1 hour. I am assuming that if he can dig 8 cubic feet in 1 hour that it would take him 8 hours to dig 64 cubic feet. (64
Oh how simple! Thank you!
Thank you. I can follow the solution quite easily as explained, but I could never have come up with the solution from scratch other than just starting with numbers and trial and error. So how do you begin such a problem?
I understand it now. When the differences between the numbers doubles each time, then I add 24 to the final number of 26 = 50. Thanks so much for helping this mathematically challenged person!
I thought 24 would be the next number in the sequence, but I am being given a list of numbers, one of which is the correct answer. The choices of the correct answer are: 38, 40, 41, or 50
What is the answer and solution to #1?

I have actually printed out all of the numbers "57, 59, 61,63, all the way to 1233". There are 619 numbers. I double checked for errors that all of the numbers were correct. There are actually 619 numbers, for real. The mathematical formula you used does
