I think I am starting to understand it. Am I doing this correctly now. Does the following infinite geometric series diverge or converge? Explain. 3 + 9 + 27 + 81+... r=3 a(1st term?)=3 Sum=3/1-3 = 3/-2 = -(3/2) = -1.5

I had asked a question similar to this before. You showed a similar way of solving it. Does the following infinite geometric series diverge or converge? Explain. 1/5 + 1/25 + 1/125 + 1/625 This is what you said Notice that is simply a geometric series,
Thanks for the help and showing me an easier way to do it.
I agree with that answer.
I agree with you on 1 and 3. I don't know for number 2. Are they labeled correctly?
I change my answer to B. I did some studying and feel very confident it is B now.
1, 0.1, 0.01 first term a = 1 common ratio r = 1/10 Sigma 0 to infinity = 1/(1-1/10) 1/(10/10-1/10) 1/(9/10) = 1*10/9=1.11... Do I divide by 9 at the end since you divided by 5 at the end? How would you know when to divide.
I am starting to understand this a little better. I am going to try to do the second question. I will post it on here after I do it so you can see if I am doing it correctly.
I thought I was doing something wrong with the first one. Good thing I doubled checked. The second and third ones are confusing me though. They both say evaluate. The second has the sum but not the common ratio and the third has the common ratio but not
Evaluate the series 72 + 12 + 2 + ... A) 14.4 B) 432 C) 6 D) 86.4*** When it says evaluate that means add the series together, right? When I add them together I get 86 which isn't an answer, or does it mean common ratio which is 6 which is an answer.
It says n-1. I will do it your way though since it makes the most sense to me. The equal sign must be squished or something.
I redid the quiz and the answer was just C.
I took the quiz and it said it was wrong.

Thanks for the help. I used your post to help me on another question.
I am still going with C. I took this before and I know it isn't D.
I found this formula for it. -1>r>1 Sorry, I meant converge. I went back and looked at the video. They said converge.
Also, what does it mean to have a sum. Wouldn't you be able to add and series of numbers regardless of them being divergent or convergent?
So if the terms get larger it's called diverging and if they get smaller it's converging.

I know, You should have seen the other ones. Luckily this was the only one I missed. Thanks for the help.
Would it be A instead?
No, I just finished the quiz and it's not B.
First, figure out the area of each side. 12*5=60 12*4=48 5*4=20 Each side will have another that is the same. You add (60+48+20)*2 to get the answer.
