I do it this way (Proportions): 4" is to 6' as 1 (Standard) is to X. Therefore 4"/1 = 6'/X or 4x = 6, therefore x = 6/4 or 1.5 times or a Scale of 1:5

I do it this way: The scale is given 1/60. So, make a proportion, 1" is to 3" as 60" is to X OR 1/60 = 3"/X; therefore, X = 180". If you want it in feet then 180"/12" because [12 inches = 1 foot]. Thus...180 inches/12 inches = 15 feet.
