if you're trying to solve for b, isolate b. b = 5*8 b = 40
OH, i understand now, 7.77 is the combination of iron and oxygen.. whereas 5.44 is just iron, so therefore to find the mass of the oxygen, you minus the two.. thank you so much!
Thank you! I don't get one part though, to find the mass of the oxygen, why did you minus 5.44 and 7.77?
the answer should be 8/7 when you are dividing expressions with exponents of the same letter, you just subtract the exponents so 3 - 3 = 0, therefore there would be no more t. so 16/14 simplifies to 8/7
after you get 3x(x^2-2x-8), look at what is in the parenthesis. x^2-2x-8 what are 2 numbers that add to the constant, 8? at the same time, these 2 numbers must equal -2 the two numbers should be -4 and 2 so the final answer would be.. 3x(x-4)(x+2) hope
