You plan to construct a brick wall measuring 4.5 m in length, 1.2 m high, and 0.5 m in width. If a brick measures 20 cm x 9 cm x 5 cm, how many bricks will you need?

First find the volume of the wall.

V = LWH

Find the volume of each brick.

Then convert that to cubic centimeters.

1 cubic meter = 1 000 000 cubic centimeters
volume of wall is 2.7
vol of each brick= 900
900,000,000
Is that how many bricks? Sounds like alot. Am I missing a step
Right -- the volume of the wall is 2.7 cubic meters = 2,700,000 cubic centimeters

Each brick's volume is 900 cubic centimeters.

Here's your mistake. You need to divide, not multiply.

2,700,000 / 900 = 3,000 bricks
got it. thanks again
:-) You're welcome.
