You own a yacht which is 14.5 meters long. It is motoring down a canal at 10.1 m/s. Its bow (the front of the boat) is just about to begin passing underneath a bridge that is 30.0 m across. How much time is required until its stern (the end of the boat) is no longer under the bridge?

Add the times required for the bow to pass from one side to the other of the bridge, and the time for the entire boat to pass one point of the brdge.
That would be (14.5+30.0)/10.1
= 4.4 seconds
That would be (14.5+30.0)/10.1
= 4.4 seconds
