Create a circular artwork with 8 sections, each section representing one of the 8 phases of the moon. In the center of the circle, draw a black circle to represent the new moon. In the first section, draw a crescent moon with the light side facing right to represent the waxing crescent. In the second section, draw a crescent moon with the light side facing left to represent the waning crescent. In the third section, draw a half moon with the light side facing right to represent the waxing gibbous. In the fourth section, draw a half moon with the light side facing left to represent the waning gibbous. In the fifth section, draw a half moon with the light side facing right and a small black circle in the center to represent the first quarter. In the sixth section, draw a half moon with the light side facing left and a small black circle in the center to represent the third quarter. In the seventh section, draw a full moon with the light side facing right to represent the full moon. In the eighth section, draw a full moon with the light side facing left to represent the waning full moon. Finally, draw a number of small circles around the moon to represent the percent of illumination.
