I tried heptane and 4-ethyl-3-methylheptane, but it still says my answer is wrong. What would be the answer then.

C7H16 I would believe for an alkane. C7H17 I don't.
How to fix 17 hydrogens on 7 carbons? :-) You have been *d up, there is no such a molecule.
