You are making two batches of a recipe of soup. If one batch of soup calls for 1500 milliliters of vegetable stock, how many liters of stock do you need altogether?
kilo
hecto
deca
unit--meters, liters, grams, etc
deci
centi
milli
Here are the prefixes. Move the decimal one place to the left if we go UP the table and one place to the right if we go DOWN the table. 1,500 mL so we start at the bottom of the table. We move one place up to centi, another place to deci, and a third place to liters. So 1,500 mL moves the decimal three places to the left to convert to liters; therefore, 1,500 mL = 1.5 L. You do the math. Remember this aid for conversions. It is helpful.
