You are given equations in Standard Form. Rewrite them in Slope-intercept form.
-6x + 4y = 24
is y= 6/4x + 6 or y = 2/3x + 4?

Those are my answer choices. I came across the two answers when I was trying to figure out what is y. But Ieaning towards y=2/3x+4.
add 6x to both sides, then divide both sides by 4. This ought to be automatic...
Ok...
-6x + 4y = 24
6 6
------------------
4y = 24 6
4 4 4
I still get y=2/3x+ 4
I hate that I am 8th grader doing 9th grade math! I don't even like math! Please help or tell me why I keep getting the wrong answer.

Jadah, who is showing you how to do those steps???
You have:
-6x + 4y = 24
6 6
------------------
4y = 24 6
4 4 4
I still get y=2/3x+ 4
You are just writing down a bunch of 6's and 4's , making no sense.
Why did you not follow bobpursley's instructions ?
-6x + 4y = 24
4y = 6x + 24 , I added 6x to both sides
y = (3/2)x + 6 , I divided each term by 4 , and simplified 6/4 to 3/2

- 6 x + 4 y = 24
Add 6 x to both sides
- 6 x + 6 x + 4 y = 6 x + 24
4 y = 6 x + 24
Divide both sides by 4
4 y / 4 = 6 x / 4 + 24 / 4
y = 2 β 3 x / 2 β 2 + 6
y = 3 x / 2 + 6
y = 3 / 2 x + 6
Add 6 x to both sides
- 6 x + 6 x + 4 y = 6 x + 24
4 y = 6 x + 24
Divide both sides by 4
4 y / 4 = 6 x / 4 + 24 / 4
y = 2 β 3 x / 2 β 2 + 6
y = 3 x / 2 + 6
y = 3 / 2 x + 6
