y=2x+37

y=6x+21

How do I solve this? I know x is 8 but I plugged in y twice and got two different answers.

4 answers

use substitution

6x+21 = 2x+37
4x = 16
x = 4

go back to either equation
y = 2(4) + 37
y = 45

how did you get x = 8 ?
nvm i got it

x= 4 and y=45
oh, I tried to use elimination, I subtracted the 2nd equation form the 1st
