The Hero and Villain in “The Hero of the Story”
In the story “The Hero of the Story,” there are interesting characters that make us think about who is a hero and who is a villain. After reading, I believe that the real hero is Timmy, and the villain is Mr. Grumble.
First, let’s talk about why Timmy is the hero. Timmy is a brave young boy who helps his friends whenever they are in trouble. For example, in the story, when his friend Lucy was being bullied by Mr. Grumble, Timmy stood up for her. He told Mr. Grumble to stop being mean and helped Lucy feel safe. This shows that Timmy cares about others and is willing to take risks for them. In the text, it says, “Timmy’s heart raced, but he knew he had to protect Lucy.” This quote illustrates his bravery and strong sense of right and wrong.
On the other hand, Mr. Grumble is the villain in this story. He is not only mean to Lucy but also to other children in the neighborhood. He likes to scare them and make them feel uncomfortable. In the story, it says, “Mr. Grumble shouted at the kids and made them cry.” This clearly shows that he enjoys making others unhappy, which makes him a true villain. A person who is constantly hurting others can be seen as a bad guy.
Some may argue that people can have both hero and villain qualities. For example, Timmy may sometimes get angry or say things he doesn’t mean. However, I believe that Timmy’s good actions outweigh his bad moments because he always tries to help others. A hero does not have to be perfect, but they should always try to do the right thing. In contrast, Mr. Grumble does not show any kindness. He chooses to behave badly despite knowing it’s wrong.
In conclusion, Timmy is the hero of the story because he cares for his friends and stands up against bullying. Mr. Grumble is the villain because he purposely makes others feel bad. Though some can be both heroic and villainous, actions matter the most, and in this story, Timmy clearly shows that he is the hero.
