write the total and net ionic equation for

calcium hydroxide(aq) -> acetic acid(aq)

1 answer

Surely you didn't intend to type an arrow. I assume you meant for these two compounds to react. (To help shorten this process let's call acetic acid HAc). The molecular equation follows:
Ca(OH)2(aq) + 2HAc*(aq) ==> Ca(Ac)2(aq) + 2H2O(l)

To each of the ions I write below, add (aq) to each except for the H2O. That will save me some typing. The ionic equation follows:
Ca^+2 + 2OH^- + 2HAc ==>Ca^+2 + 2Ac^- +
2H2O(l)

Net ionic equation follows:
2OH^-(aq) + 2HAc(aq) ==> 2Ac^-(aq) + 2H2O(l)
