In conclusion, this lab experiment successfully demonstrated the principles of diffusion and selective permeability through the interaction between starch and iodine. As hypothesized, the plastic bag did indeed exhibit a color change when exposed to iodine, though only at the creases of the bag, indicating that the iodine was able to penetrate the plastic in those areas. This suggests that the bag's material has selective permeability, allowing certain molecules to pass through while restricting others. The separation observed between the inner contents and the bag itself further emphasizes the effectiveness of the bag as a barrier to larger molecules, such as starch. Overall, the results align with the underlying concepts of diffusion, reaffirming the idea that molecules move from areas of higher concentration to areas of lower concentration. Future experiments could explore varying conditions, such as temperature or time, to see how they affect the rate of diffusion and the extent of color change in similar systems.

Biology Lab Report
Introduction: Diffusion is the passing of molecules from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration. The Cell membrane is the main element that keeps the cell together. Selective permeability is when the cell chooses which substances to and not to let in. All of these are shown in the process of the lab.
Hypothesis: The plastic bag will turn purple when put into iodine.
Procedure: We put a starch water mix into a thin plastic bag, tied it off, then put that bag into a glass of iodine for around 10 minutes and wait for the starch water mix to diffuse.
Data: After around 10 minutes, only the creases of the bag had turned purple. The bag also separated itself from the inside.
