Write an equation of the line parallel to the line given by 3x-2y=8 and having the same y- intercept as the line given by 2y+3x=-4

1 answer

3x-2y=8
2 y = 3 x - 8
y = (1.5 ) x - 4
slope = m = 1.5

so the line we want is of form
y = 1.5 x + b

then
3 x + 2 y = -4
when x = 0, y = -2

so
b = -2
and our result is
y = 1.5 x - 2
or
2 y = 3 x - 4
