In reading this assignment, you missed two very important words - AUTOBIOGRAPHY and YOU. This assignment is asking you to examine your community and tell what you have experienced. We can not do that. HOWEVER, we will be more than happy to read what you write and make suggestions and corrections. This sounds like an interesting, thought provoking project.

Edna, think about the racial relations in your groups.

Do you socialize differently with other people on the basis of race? If so, how?

Do friends/acquaintances in your groups treat others differently on the basis of race? If so, how does that make you feel about their behavior and them?

Do you hesitate to become a member of any group or go to any area because �gtoo many�h others are from another racial group?

Answering these questions should get you started.

I am currently writing a paper with this same topic. Where the challenge lies is specifically identitying what racializing refers to.

For example, I am considering my neighborhood which has a negative perception due to its high population of African-American and low-income residents, and the high crime. It's stereotyped as a "bad" area because of this. Is this an example of how human interactions in my community have been racialized? Once I have a clear understanding of what it means to racialize, then I'll have a better vision of how to approach my paper.
