write a respones Hello everyone!

When I completed the first survey with questions regarding older people, I only got 4 questions wrong. I used to work in a nursing home, so I did know some of the answers through personal experience. When I interviewed a senior, I learned that many of them really don't always think that they are as old as they are. I was able to interview someone I knew that is older and married, so I kind of got the input of two people in one. Most of what they reported to me consisted of their personal experiences with aging, and how they viewed things differently in different stages in their lives. When my person was a mother to small children, she viewed her parenting very differently and her role as a human very differently even from the person she is now. One thing that was interesting to me was that memory loss does not seem to be a universal struggle that people deal with. When I was discussing the prompts with the woman I interviewed, I learned that she felt like she wasn't old until she looked in the mirror on her 60th birthday, and saw all of her wrinkles and grey hair. Sometimes she says she doesn't even recognize the person she is, because she never remembers getting to the age that she is now.

Hello!

Thank you for sharing your experience! It’s fascinating how personal insights can shape our understanding of aging. Your background working in a nursing home certainly gives you a unique perspective, and it’s great to hear that you were able to connect with someone you know for your interview.

I find it particularly interesting how the perception of age can fluctuate based on life stages and personal experiences. It’s a powerful reminder that aging is not just a physical journey but also a mental and emotional one. The idea that memory loss is not universal is also compelling; it highlights the diversity of experiences that seniors face and challenges some of the stereotypes often associated with aging.

The way you described how the woman you interviewed viewed her reflection on her 60th birthday resonates with many. It’s common for people to feel a disconnect between their internal self-image and how they are perceived externally. Thank you for sharing these insights; they really shed light on the complexities of aging and how awareness can vary significantly from person to person. Looking forward to hearing more about your reflections and thoughts on aging!
