We will be happy to critique your writing. Keep it short, to the point. Focus on what he did. The supervisor will make the decision if it was above the call of duty, or if it was necessary.

Although I agree that you need to focus on what the person did, that needs to be in terms of the specific situation and what would normally be expected. This should indicate why you believe the help was exceptional.
