New Britain Palm Oil Limited (NBPOL) is a major player in the palm oil industry, primarily operating in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. Founded in 1973, NBPOL has established itself as one of the largest palm oil producers in the Pacific, cultivating over 70,000 hectares of oil palm plantations (New Britain Palm Oil Limited, 2021). The company is known for its commitment to sustainable palm oil production, adhering to the principles set out by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). NBPOL has also implemented various environmental and social initiatives aimed at reducing deforestation, protecting biodiversity, and supporting local communities (RSPO, 2022). In 2018, NBPOL was acquired by Kulim (Malaysia) Berhad, further enhancing its capacity and reach in sustainable palm oil production (Kulim Berhad, 2018).
