John has spent most of his life in a rural community and his days as a high school quarterback may not have exposed him to other boys his age that are have been involved in much more highly competitive conference football play. He has a solid social network and easily can fit in with others and make friends. His disadvantage is also that being from a small town, being further away from his family, and now transitioning to life in the Big Apple. John will be exposed to many new things that he has not seen or been exposed to while growing up in rural Indiana. Being the football star at his high school and going to the large university and having to compete for attention and most likely not being the football star his freshman year he will miss being in the limelight and the center of attention. Transitioning from a rural high school to the large university in New York City will be difficult and the many distractions of New York City will draw his attention away from his studies.
Donnie grew up in the Windy City and now transitioning to smaller city in Ames, Iowa. His values, desire to earn his degree and keep a small social network will benefit him at ISU. He has clear goals set for his college experience and is determined to succeed in the music industry. He has the ability to express himself and express himself to others through his music which will benefit his studies as well as his future career in music. Living in Ames will also leave Donnie closer to his family and friends in Chicago. I do not believe Donnie will skip class, engage in binge drinking, drug use or deviant behavior associated with moving away from home.
I believe that John will be the young man who will engage in deviant behavior and be more susceptible to peer pressure at college
