I think you mean transitive or intransitive, right?
Transitive verbs can have direct objects after them; intransitive ones cannot.
Jack ate the hamburger.
("ate" = transitive; "hamburger" = direct object)
I was so surprised that I nearly fell over.
("fell" = instransitive; no direct object)
Read that sentence again and see what you find. Is there a direct object there? If so, what's the verb?
would the verb in this sentence be transitional or intransitional. if transitional, what would be the object?
She threw a wonderful celebration.
