Haha I am sorry I do not mean to offend but that is what is written in my sociology textbook and it does not make any sense to me at all

Baby Boomers are generally considered to be those people born between 1946 and 1964. Their ages vary from 47 to 65. Since most of these people are in the work force and not retired, I don't see how your book can assign any "old" designation to them.

How does your book define these terms?

It's all relative. As Ms. Sue said, "What is 'old'?" Once you determine that, you might be able to draw some conclusions.

My mother is 92, which seems ancient to me, but she's healthy and mobile and her memory is reasonably good. So ... is she "old old"?

middle old 75 through 84
young old ages 65 through 74
newly old is below that

so baby boomers would be newly old.
