On Earth you can observe energy in many forms. Mechanical energy is energy of motion or position of an object. Mechanical energy can be found as stored potential energy or as energy of motion, kinetic energy. We can also observe thermal energy, or heat energy as well as electrical energy.
The energy of distant stars that we observe is radiant energy, or the energy of electromagnetic spectrum. Electromagnetic waves travel as both electrical waves and magnetic waves. They are the only type of waves that can travel through empty space. Electromagnetic waves are examples of electromagnetic waves. A transverse wave vibrates at a right angle to the direction that is moving. Only the wave, not the matter, travels from place to place.
