why were the munich olympic games viewed as being of particular importance world politics, national relations, and reconciliation with the Jewish people?
I think the Holocaust occured before that and Germany wanted to prove that they were moving forward and that they werent the same anti-jewish country.

Yes, I have read that. But in terms of reconciliation with the Jewish people, that didn't do much, it only caused more problems.
I agree. Also, throughout the Olympic history, current wars and battles have ususally been put on hold through the games. This massacre was a flagrant denial of such Olympic ideals.

West Germany took ineffective action from the start (Olympic security) to the end, with poor planning, lack of trained response teams, and lack of command and control. The Jewish People were not happy over any of that. It was just like the excuses they had heard for years in regards to the Holocaust.
