Why is the landing at Plymouth Rock seen as just as important as Jamestown, or more so, in the founding of our country?

The landing at Plymouth Rock in 1620 established the first British settlement in the New World.
The plymouth landing is significant because it signifies the first charter between the new world and England. It also is important because they puritans did not only sail to the new world for hopes of money but they were also fleeing for freedom from religious persecution (a founding principle of america is the freedom of religion).
