Why do gas giants have more moons than the terrestrial planets?
The gas giants have more moons than the terrestrial planets because of their great masses which result in stronger gravitational fields.

Also that the gas giants are much further away from the sun. If you look at other solar systems, some gas giants are close to their star and don't have many moons.
