Who was lots to Abraham

1 answer

Lot was the nephew of Abraham. In the Hebrew Bible or Old Testament, Lot is the son of Haran, who was Abraham's brother. The story of Lot and Abraham is detailed in the Book of Genesis. After Haran's death, Lot accompanied Abraham (then called Abram) and his family on their journey from Ur to Canaan. They eventually separated due to their growing herds and the resulting conflicts between their herdsmen. Lot chose to settle in the fertile plains of Jordan, near the city of Sodom, while Abraham remained in the land of Canaan.

Lot's story continues with his involvement in the events surrounding the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, where he lived. He is spared from the city's destruction by angels due to Abraham's intercession with God, but his wife famously turns into a pillar of salt for looking back at the burning city.
